Listserv

ACVSMR now hosts and manages our own membership listserv and we will no longer use the acvsmr@lists.oregonstate.edu. The new list works just like the old one with the additional option of accessing a searchable archive. Please use the below information for the new listserv:
  • The email address to send messages to is: ACVSMR@LIST.VSMR.ORG. Please note, when you reply to a message posted on the listserv, you will be sending your reply to the entire group. If you only want to send your message to the original sender, please make sure their email address appears in the “To” line of your email.
  • The new listserv keeps a searchable archive that you can access online. If you would like to be able to access the archives you will need to use this link to set up a password and bookmark this link to easily access the the listserv page. Once you set a password you will receive an email asking you to confirm your password. You will need to click the link in your confirmation email prior to accessing the archives.
  • One of the known issues with the listserv is when replying to the listserv using a different email address than what you use to receive emails. The email address you send messages from needs to be an exact match otherwise the message will not go through. If you use a different email address to receive messages than what you use to send messages please let us know and we can get both email addresses listed.
  • If your email address changes send an email to secretary@vsmr.org

Guidelines

What the listserv should provide
  • Case discussion between members of the College
  • Discussions of medical and/or ethical issues related to the practice of veterinary sports medicine and rehabilitation
  • College business as approved by the Board of Directors
 What the listserv should refrain from
  • Announcements or promotion of non-ACVSMR activities or products
  • Items that principally involve communications that are germane to just a few people.
  • Items that constitute political advocacy, either within the veterinary profession or in general.
  • Items of a confidential nature, such as certifying examination questions
  • Anything that involves subjects of an anti-trust nature (see explanation below).
  • Messages that contain information that is abusive, libelous, defamatory, obscene, pornographic, profane, or otherwise inappropriate that could be offensive to one or more members.
Listserv replies
  • When posting on the listserv please include an autosignature with your message or otherwise make sure your email address follows your name, but take care to ensure that the signature block does not contain content that is contrary to listserv rules.
  • Please use an email account that does not result in auto-reply to the listserv
  • You should reply to the listserv when the information you are sharing is something everyone can potentially benefit from.
  • You should reply only to the individual asking the question when your response is confidential or has application to only the person asking.

User agrees to refrain from posting information and/or participating in online discussions having antitrust implications, and that may lead to, whether expressed or implied, price fixing, boycotting of any industry, company or business, or any other conduct intended to illegally restrict free trade. Discussion of specific prices or fees that could lead to price fixing is prohibited.

Repeated abuse of the listserv guidelines may result in withdrawal of listserv privileges for the offending member.
